Augen Geradeausciting a statement by the head of the German Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius, reported that Germany has decided to permanently station tank battalions on Lithuanian territory.
According to the publication, the 42nd tank brigade of the Bundeswehr will deploy to Lithuania by the beginning of 2025. It is specified that it will include the 203rd tank battalion from North Rhine-Westphalia and the 122nd tank grenadier battalion from Bavaria.
“At the same time, already in the second quarter of next year, an advanced group of German military personnel will leave for Lithuania. The headquarters will be formed in the fourth quarter of 2025,” the publication noted.
Pistorius added that this association will be called Panzerbrigade 42. It will consist of 4,800 soldiers and 200 civilian employees from Germany.
