The Russian Beach Sambo Championship ended in Orenburg. Of the UMMC athletes, Artur Khaptsev (88+ kg) became the winner, who also received the right to participate in the World Championships in the Dominican Republic.
Together with him, Damir Shamsutdinov, the winner in the category up to 58 kg, will fly to the World Championships. In the category up to 71 kilograms, Yegor Smertin became the third, in the category up to 88 kilograms Turpalali Gusikhanov took the second place, in the heavyweight category Dmitry Torgashov took the third place.
The head coach of the CS UMMC Mikhail Sukhanov said about the worthy performance of the athletes. According to him, Artur Khaptsev can already be called a specialist in this sport (this is his third championship, ending with a victory). Damir Shamsutdinov also has a wonderful debut.
“It’s a little embarrassing for Dmitry Torgashov,” says the head coach. “He was perfectly prepared, but the rules of beach sambo deprived him of his main trump card – wrestling on the ground.”
“On the second day of the competition, our athletes helped the Ural Federal District team win the team championship,” the UMMC press service noted.
As MK-Ural previously reported, the UMMC men’s and women’s teams became the best at the Russian Table Tennis Championship. Before that, not a single club had won the Russian championship at the same time by both the men’s and women’s teams.
