Athletes from Obninsk brought medals from the BRICS games

Athletes from Obninsk took part in the BRICS Games, which took place in Durban, South Africa. Our beach girls brought us back from the Silver tournament.
As the regional Ministry of Sports reported on Monday, October 23, 450 athletes from Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa took part in the competition.
Russian athletes showed themselves in six sports: swimming, tennis, badminton, beach volleyball, table tennis, sports for persons with musculoskeletal impairment (table tennis and wheelchair tennis).
“Our country’s team won the team event at the BRICS Games, winning 59 medals – 35 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze. In second place is the Chinese team, in third place are the hosts of the Games,” the sports department summed up.
However, special attention was paid to Obninsk beach girls. Athlete of the Obninsk volleyball club Ekaterina Shevtsova and a native of the first science city, who now plays for Lokomotiv Kaliningrad, Arina Ryazhnova made a significant contribution to the overall victory of the country and won silver medals at the Games.
