Undoubtedly, the ascent of Konstantin Sergeev to Chomolungma (the second name of the highest point on the planet) will go down in history as one of the greatest achievements of Karelian athletes in the history of the republic. Moreover, our climber left the Karelian flag on the “roof of the world”. And at the same time recorded a video message to fellow countrymen.

The story of how the climber was preparing for the main campaign of his life is still ahead – the path from Nepal is not a short one. But divers from the Onego dive club in Petrozavodsk and their friends can already tell how they made a trip to the Leningrad Region on the May holidays and saw something that we had not even heard of – although they were in the Leningrad Region.

“It turned out to be a surprisingly dense and exciting outing,” said the famous Karelian diver and traveler Dmitry Belenikhin, “In 4 days we managed to dive, cheer on the final of the tournament for Karelian basketball players, fly in a wind tunnel, go to a concert, visit Shlisselburg, St. Petersburg, Vyborg, Korela fortress, etc.

But the main adventure, of course, was a visit to the pool in Vsevolozhsk – the deepest in the country. It is called “A30”. Its deep part is divided into three zones, and the greatest depth here reaches 30 meters. The interiors are made in the form of a sunken city, and the entire process of immersion is filmed on camera. For those interested: until recently, the “Y-40” in Italy was considered the deepest pool in the world, its depth, as the name implies, is 40 meters. In second place was Nemo 33 in Belgium and third was Dive4Live in Germany with 20 meters. That is, our “A30” could triumphantly break into the top three, if not for the Arab sheiks. In 2021, a pool with a depth of 60 meters 20 centimeters appeared in Dubai.
