Athletes from different regions of the Russian Federation fought in extreme competitions on Sakhalin

On Sakhalin, within one week, three grandiose events took place at once, which brought together athletes from all regions of the country – from Moscow to Vladivostok. It all started with the IronSakh triathlon, continued with the No Place To Run off-road motorcycle race, and the Sakhalin Frontier extreme race.

The IronSakh triathlon was held on August 13 in the island region for the sixth time. This year, participants from Moscow, Moscow, Leningrad, Murmansk, Amur, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and Sakhalin regions, as well as from the Krasnoyarsk, Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories fought for victory in the competition.

A large-scale event, which has already become traditional, was held on the territory of the Lesnoye Ozero sanatorium. The triathlon coincided with one of the most beloved holidays on the islands – Athlete’s Day.

“It is very symbolic that such major competitions are held on the main holiday of all lovers of an active and healthy lifestyle. Triathlon is a unique area where a person can test himself in different sports. Without a doubt, each of you can be called an iron man. You overcome huge distances and successfully cope with it, ”Artem Podshivalov, head of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region, addressed the participants of the triathlon.

Athletes overcame different distances – depending on age and their capabilities. The methods remained unchanged: first by swimming, then by bicycle, and finally by running.

The longest distance is 1930 meters swimming, 90 kilometers cycling and 21.1 kilometers running. The best in this category was Roman Trubetskoy, who completed all stages in just 4 hours 40 minutes and 3 seconds.

“I had a very long busy season – since March this is the ninth race. In the spring, he covered the full distance, speaking in the Philippines. Initially, the goal was to win HALF at home, I went to this for five years. It was quite difficult, but I managed to finish the season with such a powerful victory for myself, ”the athlete shared.

Women also participated in this race. The athlete who won gold overcame it in 5 hours 47 minutes and 9 seconds.

“This is my third IronSakh triathlon victory. All liked it! I “failed” a little in swimming – I swam 5 minutes worse than usual, but improved the bike race by 30 minutes, and it was very easy in running, I raced like it was just a half marathon. This year is difficult for me in terms of work, so there were few trainings – I ran a little, traveled a little, prepared more psychologically, ”said the winner.

There were other distances as well. Olympic – 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run, sprint – 750 meters in water, 20 km bike, 5 km run. Super sprint and super sprint for persons with musculoskeletal disorders – 300m swim, 8km bike and 2km run.

The IronSakh triathlon has been held in the Sakhalin region since 2016. For the first time, 73 athletes came to the start. More than 200 triathletes took part in the race today.

On August 20, the extreme race “Sakhalin Frontier” took place at the Pushisty airfield. 602 people took part in the individual and team classifications – 93 teams and 137 participants in the individual classification. Athletes overcame 32 obstacles that were installed over a distance of six kilometers.

“Sakhalin Frontier” is a competition for those who have a steel character, the organizers noted. And this time the fire was added by a downpour that hit Fluffy exactly an hour before the competition.

“I passed the distance in the Sakhalin Frontier for the second year in a row. This year the organization is even better than last year, although last year was excellent. The weather made its own adjustments, on the one hand, complicating the task, on the other hand, it added interest. I liked it very much,” said Grigory Kuznetsov, a participant in the race.

The participants of the Sakhalin Frontier surprised not only with their strength, speed and endurance, but also with their originality. This time, the guests of the event were captivated by their equipment by a team called the Suicide Squad, which stylized their clothes under the franchise of the same name – they were even awarded the Audience Award.

The judges monitored the correctness of the passage of obstacles by each participant. If the participant incorrectly or incompletely passed the stage, he had the opportunity to try again. 3 attempts were given to storm each obstacle. The passing of the test of the team was considered to be the presence of all five participants at the finish line with their hands up. After the competition, the athletes could wash and change on Fluffy, and a field kitchen was also organized for them.

Teams and participants could not practice on the track in advance. Moreover, if at least one representative of the group was noticed on it, then the entire team would be disqualified. However, this did not prevent them from showing impressive results: the fastest participant in the race, Mikhail Anikeev, completed the strip in 30 minutes 20.1 seconds. Among the girls, Uliana Dobrovolskaya showed the best result. Her time is 40 minutes 1.9 seconds. Epic Fail had the best team result – they covered the distance in 45 minutes 38.9 seconds.

Everyone was happy, even those who could not win. After the competition, they shared their emotions.

“I am from the Moscow region and have long wanted to participate in such an event, but at home I could not assemble a team, and on Sakhalin I found like-minded people. I suggested it to my colleagues, immediately warned that it would be fun, interesting, dirty, wet, but unforgettable. We ran great, for our own pleasure, ”said the captain of the Rubizhniki team.

Nowhere to run

Last weekend it was also interesting for those who chose motorcycle riding as their favorite sport. Off-road racing No Place To Run started in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with an impressive show – “prologue”, or qualifications of the participants.

No Place To Run is one of the toughest and toughest off-road motorcycle races in the country. On Sakhalin, the competition is held for the seventh time.

On the opening day, the audience was treated to a bright motor show with the participation of almost a hundred athletes from Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Moscow, Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod, Yoshkar-Ola, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vladivostok, Blagoveshchensk, as well as Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and other regions areas. And it was almost the only opportunity to look at the skills of the athletes, because on the rest of the race, the motorcyclists struggled with the difficulties in nature.

“For the qualifying races, we built a special area – the athletes have already appreciated it, the passage was very bright and spectacular. Many thanks to everyone who promotes this sport and shows how beautiful it is,” said the head of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region Artem Podshivalov.

The site was made in the parking lot of the Aqua City complex. For the construction, a twenty-foot sea container, tetrapod breakwaters, huge tires and wheels, coils from high-voltage wires, stones, springboards and logs were used.

“The track has been prepared since spring – they collected material, designed obstacles. The main part fell on the last two weeks, they worked day and night. The day before, the athletes assessed the track, suggested what needs to be improved, and the night before the start, we completed its construction by 100%,” shared the organizer of the “prologue” Sergey Karpov.

Participants were divided into three categories: “Expert”, “Hobby” and “Pro”. Rain on the day of the “prologue” made it difficult to pass the obstacle course, so it was not easy for the participants – there were many falls, often very unpleasant. According to the results of the prologue, the judges determined the participants in the off-road races.

The second part of the race began on August 21 on the beach in the village of Novikovo. The route passed through the picturesque places of Sakhalin – past the Blue Lakes, Cape Evstafiya. On August 22, the athletes sent from the village of Bereznyaki, and on August 23 – from the LCD “Olympia” and finished on Lysaya Mountain at the STK “Mountain Air”.
