Athletes from 22 countries took part in the selection for the “Games of the Future”

The international multisport tournament “Games of the Future”, in the qualifying stage of which athletes from 22 countries took part, is an example of new sports formats. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the session “Sport in the new reality: from competition to product” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“One of the new innovative sports formats is the Games of the Future international multi-sport tournament, which will be held in Kazan in 2024. The past test competitions show that the interest in such an innovative format has matured in the world,” Chernyshenko said.

160 teams from 22 countries, including China, Latvia, Brazil and others, took part in the qualifying competitions for the tournament.

At the same time, SMP Racing and the Games of the Future project also signed a partnership agreement at SPIEF, under which SMP Racing will be the organizer of the first figurative auto championship in Russia. The championship is planned to be held in Sochi in 2024 during the World Youth Festival. The founder of SMP Racing, Boris Rotenberg, said that a new stage in the development of the domestic racing simulator has begun, which will become the basis of the domestic game development industry, the organization of sports training for cybersportsmen, and the improvement of road safety.

The head of the Games of the Future, Igor Stlyarov, noted that there is a growing attention to the broadcasts of digital games, the audience coverage of test competitions exceeded 1.7 billion.

“Games of the Future” combines physical and digital competition and is divided into five categories: sports, tactics, strategy, technology and speed. The first tournament will be held in Kazan from February to March 2024. It is expected that 256 teams and 2,000 athletes will take part in it.
