Marietta Tsigal-Polishchuk, actress: “I read endlessly about Faina Ranevskaya, watched all the surviving videos with her. Before the shift, the day before, I watched what period of life we were filming, reviewed films and other recordings with her around that time. At first, it was difficult to overcome the stupor from responsibility: the complexity of the role, the size of the personality, and much more scared me … Gradually, the stupor disappeared due to the elementary lack of time for reflection. We tried, I think, not to make direct biopics. It’s still fiction, based on some of our common perception of what we know about this great personality and actress.”
