At the “Russia” exhibition they played a Tatar wedding and cooked shurpa for 4,000 people

The world’s largest samovar (2 m 30 cm – editor’s note), traditional Tatar chak-chak and plucking geese – all this could be seen at VDNKh at the exhibition “Russia” as part of the celebration of the Days of the Republic of Tatarstan. And also take a virtual walk along the embankments of Kazan using VR glasses and learn how to cook the Tatar pie Gubadia, zur belish, talkysh kaleve and other national dishes.

The Days of Tatarstan were opened by the Head of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov, greeting all those gathered in Russian and Tatar: “Everything we do, everything we have is thanks to the policy pursued by our President, the enormous support of the federal government. I would like to sincerely thank each of you for being with us. Tatarstan alga! Only forward! Big zur rahmat, thank you!”

And Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin noted that the main wealth of Tatarstan is people: “An integrated approach to improving the quality of life of citizens is the merit of the work of the regional team under the leadership of Rustam Minnikhanov.” Emphasizing that the land of Tatarstan is rich in natural resources, unique historical and cultural heritage. This year, according to him, the construction industry has distinguished itself – more than 3 million square meters of housing have already been commissioned. In addition, at the end of 2023, traffic from Moscow to Kazan will be launched along the new M-12 “East” highway with a bridge crossing the Volga River 3362 meters long.

There was also a sports component. Olympic champion in figure skating Alina Zagitova, who has many projects with Tatarstan, expressed her deep gratitude to the entire leadership of the republic for supporting the athlete’s idea to promote figure skating. And she invited everyone to the BRICS sports games in the summer of 2024.

Another bright and very tasty moment of the holiday was the preparation of shurpa soup for 4 thousand servings at once. Guests of the exhibition were also taught how to sew a traditional Tatar headdress – a skullcap, weave leather souvenirs and dance Tatar folk dances.

But the most colorful event of the Days of the Republic of Tatarstan was a real Tatar wedding in compliance with all national customs: the transfer of jewelry from mother to daughter, the change of a girl’s headscarf to a wedding one as a symbol of the beginning of the bride’s new life as a wife, and much more. Samat Ziyatdinov and Syumbel Ibragimova from the Baltasinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan decided to unite their hearts. In 2020, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the groom’s large family was awarded a high award – the medal of the Order of Parental Glory. The audience saw the groom preparing for the wedding ceremony and performing a festive male and female dance. To make life satisfying and sweet for the newlyweds, they were treated to butter, honey and traditional chak-chak. The head of Tatarstan presented the newlyweds with a certificate for a tourist trip to the Altai Republic, the historical homeland of the Tatars. At the end, all guests were greeted by the Tatar Father Frost Kysh Babai and his granddaughter Kar Kyzy (Snow Maiden). “With the beginning of winter, I want to congratulate everyone and, of course, a Happy New Year! Wish everyone good and prosperity! May our friendship with you and our faith in fairy tales, in love, in friendship win, and everything will be fine with us! Happy holidays everyone!
