Several cases of measles were detected in Moscow among students of the Russian State University. Gubkin, known as the Institute of Oil and Gas. Other sources report that the standard measles quarantine period is 21 days. But the future oil workers have an order for remote control so far only from April 12 to April 16. It is known that measles was found in the dormitory of the Russian State University and the sick were immediately taken to the infectious diseases clinic. Now all over Moscow there are checks in educational institutions, from kindergartens to universities. “We were shaken by a nurse about vaccinations in the morning,” says the mother of a Moscow schoolgirl. – Those who vaccinate for a fee or even at home often do not have a mark on the vaccine made in the EMIAS database. They said to send urgently, checks are going on all over the city. Everyone who had contact with the sick was placed on a two-week self-isolation – no one is allowed out of the hostel without a certificate of vaccination.
“I heard that we found measles in a student from Ingushetia,” says Dmitry, who is studying at the Russian State University. – In principle, it’s okay, only he managed to infect a few more people. In the exchange chat, however, they scared us: they wrote that with measles, an adult has a temperature of 40, and then skin cells die … And whoever did not make the vaccine, urgently do it, and the rest of the vaccination books and medical records to find. For example, I am from Tula myself. I don’t know where this card is, and there is no desire to look for it. And yet, if there are 21 days of quarantine, and the May holidays … That’s all, we don’t study in person anymore.
A resident of Samara lives in a university dormitory. According to the girl, the last time she was at the university in the classroom on April 5. Then she managed to fly to her homeland in the Volga region, and, returning on April 10, she immediately fell ill.
“When I was leaving, everyone wrote to me on social networks that we were in quarantine here, many got measles, what’s going on. I arrived at the hostel on Monday, and I felt bad, I didn’t go to the couples. I woke up at 6 am, I had a temperature of 38 degrees, although there were no symptoms of SARS. The next day, I wanted to go take a covid test, but I saw rashes on my face. I already knew about measles and therefore immediately turned to the doctor on duty.”
Such close attention to measles now may be due to the fact that, according to WHO, more than 40 million children missed the measles vaccination during the pandemic. Which, of course, led to sad consequences: outbreaks of the disease began in the world. Wherever measles appears, its arrival is always preceded by a decrease in vaccination coverage of the population. Measles is a highly contagious disease and vaccination coverage of at least 95% of the population is required to prevent epidemics.
Russia is no exception. Epidemiologists warned of possible unpleasant scenarios at the end of 2020. This explains the outbreaks of the disease in the country. For example, in January, 45 people were diagnosed with measles, 17 of them were children in the Novosibirsk region. After that, Rospotrebnadzor announced a project for the so-called. clean-up vaccination: from April, a vaccination campaign was to start throughout the country for those who had not previously been vaccinated, as well as for those whose immune protection had expired.
“In terms of the level of contagiousness, any infection can hardly be compared with measles,” says infectious disease specialist Valentina Svyatkina. – An infectious person infects up to 100% of unvaccinated and people without antibodies in his environment; you can get infected even while being from the source of infection a couple of floors above or below in the same building. The infection is volatile, transmitted by airborne droplets. In the first 3-4 days it is difficult to distinguish it from SARS. The disease most often occurs with high (above 40 gr.) Temperature, cough, runny nose, weakness, asthenia, lack of appetite. And only on the 5th day a rash appears: first on the face and head, then on the chest, then it goes down to the legs. The course of the disease is quite painful, but the worst thing is that measles causes severe complications, some of which can overtake a person in 5-7 years. In addition to otitis media and pneumonia, measles can be complicated by blindness, hearing loss, blood cancer, postinfectious encephalitis, and subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE).
As previously reported, in April, outbreaks of measles were detected in several regions of the country at once. For example, several cases of infection were found in Yekaterinburg, five cases were found in Primorye.
