At the SKA Arena, where today St. Petersburg SKA won a crushing victory over HC Sochi with a score of 8:1, a world record for attendance at matches in indoor hockey arenas was set, TASS reported, citing the words of Gazprom head Alexei Miller before the match.

SKA Arena is designed for 21.5 thousand spectators. The previous record for attendance at indoor hockey arenas belonged to Canada’s Bell Center, where Montreal played. Its arena seats 21.1 thousand spectators.

The attendance record for KHL games in indoor arenas was set in 2014 at the match between the Czech “Lion” and Magnitogorsk “Metallurg”. Then more than 17 thousand spectators attended the game.
