Asus confirms development of ROG Ally handheld gaming console

Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asus introduced new portable console ROG Ally, which can become a competitor to Steam Deck. The announcement was released on Saturday, April 1, and was taken as an April Fool’s joke. Asus confirmed information about the development of the console, although they did not disclose the price and the estimated release date.

ROG Ally has an AMD Ryzen APU, a seven-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 and a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. The maximum brightness is 500 cd / m, the device will have Windows 11 installed. For comparison: in Steam Deck, the maximum resolution is 1280×800, the screen refresh rate is 60 Hz, and the maximum brightness is 400 cd / m. Also, the dimensions of the ROG Ally make it much thinner than the console from Valve. ROG Ally games can be streamed to your TV using the docking station. The console has two built-in fans for cooling, which, according to the developers, are less noisy than the Steam Deck. In the device, you can replace both the SSD drive and the joysticks.
