The Alpha Monocerotid meteor shower begins activity on November 15, reports starwalk.space. The peak of the starfall is expected on November 21-22.
The number of “shooting stars” in the night sky during Alpha Monocerotids varied from year to year and sometimes amounted to more than a thousand per hour, astronomers report. The meteor shower is not expected to be highly active in 2023, and during the peak, observations will be hindered by the bright moon.
On November 17-18, the Leonids meteor shower, considered the main one in November, is expected to peak. The number of meteors will be up to 10 per hour, and viewing conditions will be favorable in good weather.
