Astrobotic reported a slowdown in fuel leaks from the lunar module Peregrine – Kommersant

Experts have recorded a decrease in fuel loss on the private lunar lander Peregrine. With current leakage levels, the device will be able to operate for at least another 52 hours, developer company Astrobotic Technology said.

“Peregrine has been in space for more than four days. The spacecraft remains in a stable and operational state. The rate of fuel leakage continues to slow, and it is estimated that the spacecraft now has 52 hours of fuel left,” Astrobotic said on social media X.

Peregrine was launched on January 7 by the American Vulcan launch vehicle. The lunar module separated from the launch vehicle as normal. After maneuvering the probe’s solar antennas, Peregrine’s batteries began to charge from the Sun, but eight hours after launch happened fuel leak.

A failure in the engine will not allow the device to make a soft landing on the Moon, the company noted. At the same time, the day before, specialists installed connection to all Peregrine tools. Astrobotic indicated that the device continues to move along the given trajectory.
