Assistant head coach of the Ufa hockey club “Salavat Yulaev” Konstantin Koltsov died at the age of 42, reported press service teams. The cause of death has not been specified.

Konstantin Koltsov was born on April 17, 1981 in Minsk. He is a graduate of the Minsk hockey school “Yunost”. He played for the children’s, junior and youth teams of Yunost, and played five matches in the Belarusian Championship. In 1999 he moved to the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins. Played 144 games in the National Hockey League and scored 38 points.

Mr. Koltsov at various times played for the Cherepovets club “Severstal”, Novokuznetsk “Metallurg”, Kazan “Ak Bars”, Moscow “Spartak”, Minsk “Dynamo”, “Salavat Yulaev” and Mytishchi “Atlant”. In 2011, he won the Gagarin Cup with the Ufa team. In 2008, he became the champion of Russia with Salavat Yulaev. Since 1999, Mr. Koltsov has played for the Belarusian national team. In 2016, he finished his career as a hockey player and began working as a hockey coach.

From 2017 to 2019 he was an assistant coach at Dynamo Minsk. After that, he was the head coach of Brest and Dynamo Molodechno. From 2021 to 2022 he was assistant head coach of Spartak. In 2022, he joined the coaching staff of Salavat Yulaev.
