Assembly of the Russian electric car “Atom” will begin in 2025

JSC “Kama” (project by Sergey Kogogin and Ruben Vardanyan) presented the first functional sample of the Russian electric car “Atom”.
At the end of the year, it is planned to test the battery, created jointly with Rener (part of Rosatom), as well as other systems: suspension, steering system and chassis. The assembly of the first electric car is scheduled for the end of 2024, and by mid-2025 the company intends to switch to serial production and launch mass sales, Kommersant reports.
General Director of JSC “Kama” Igor Povarazdnyuk noted that he positions “Atom” as a car of the mass segment, which will be available for carsharing, mobility services, delivery and personal use.
The car will have a rear-wheel drive and will be comparable to class A / B cars in terms of dimensions, and in terms of comfort – C / D. It will also be safe (four stars China NCAP). In carsharing “Atom” will cost about 50 rubles. per minute, which is cheaper than a Tesla but more expensive than a VW Polo. The company also presented its Atomverse operating system based on Kaspersky OS, which it plans to offer to other car market players.
