An artilleryman from the 200th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Northern Fleet, operating as part of the Southern Group of Forces, said that the crew of the 2S5 Giatsint-S self-propelled gun is actively engaged in counter-battery combat with the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), including those using cluster munitions.
According to the military man, the unit’s task is counter-battery combat. He noted that the infantry reports the enemy’s use of cluster munitions, after which data is received from the infantry commanders, and the gun crew, hitting targets and knowing the directions, is aware that the Ukrainian artillery installation is using this type of ammunition, and it is immediately hit.
The artilleryman said that the advantages of a self-propelled artillery mount are that it moves and can operate from any prepared firing point. He added that after receiving the target, the most favorable position is selected, to which a move is made, after which the target is hit.
