The economic effect from the introduction of artificial intelligence will increase Russia’s GDP by 11 trillion rubles. This forecast for 2030 was given by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. In an interview with RIA Novosti, he clarified that we are talking not only about the development of technologies, but also about their application in practice. According to Chernyshenko, “at the last conference “Journey to the World of Artificial Intelligence,” the president focused specifically on the implementation of scientific technologies, and not just their invention.”

The volume of the Russian AI market for 2022 was 650 billion rubles. And in 2024, according to experts, artificial intelligence will allow companies to save about 1 trillion rubles. It is through saving resources that the future economic effect is calculated. The Deputy Prime Minister cited agriculture as an example. Thus, farmers manage to save up to 10% of costs by analyzing images of fields taken from satellites.

In addition to direct income, the business also receives an indirect effect, explained Roman Dushkin, CEO of the artificial intelligence developer company A-Ya Expert: “In all industries, new technologies are now in demand for automating human cognitive activity, that is, those processes in which the human mind is involved , not manual labor.

For example, we have opened a research center for artificial intelligence at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. There we are developing a large number of systems, which next year we will begin to actively implement in various areas. In particular, in the transport and logistics industry. Both direct effects and indirect ones over the long term are expected. What are direct effects? Firstly, direct monetization, that is, selling something. Secondly, the opportunity to reduce costs and save money.

As for indirect indicators, this is, for example, the impact on the environment. If an AI system reduces the negative impact on the natural environment, then people who live in the area where it operates get sick less, have a better mood, etc. These are the factors we took into account when preparing a feasibility study for our systems. There are calculation methods, and the fact that by 2030 there will be a serious economic effect in the form of 11 trillion rubles is quite achievable.”

Experts believe that through artificial intelligence it is possible to compensate for the protracted labor shortage. 85% of Russian companies are experiencing a shortage of employees, the Superjob service has calculated. The technology is already working, for example, in the summer of 2023, instead of truckers, unmanned KamAZ trucks began transporting cargo along the M-11 highway and Arctic roads. This allows you to reduce costs for cargo transportation by 10-15%.

In the coming months, unmanned Lastochkas will be launched on the MCC, and the Yandex company is introducing unmanned taxis on city routes. It is assumed that people who cede their jobs to AI will go into entrepreneurship, says the head of the Umbrella Group company Stanislav Meshkov: “There are two characteristics. The first is saving on people, reducing the number of employees needed to complete any work. This was the case with accountants: before the 1990s, the company’s accounting department consisted of, say, 30-50 people, and after the introduction of computers, 10 times fewer specialists were required to do the same work.

Secondly, speed, time to market is an important economic indicator. Any technological revolution leads to the fact that more people can penetrate into other areas. The level of entrepreneurship in Russia is now quite low, so the effect will be very significant.

With artificial intelligence, anyone can open their own media outlet, bank or some kind of financial organization.”

Projects in the field of AI are actively supported by the state. It is expected that by 2030, 5 thousand organizations will receive preferential access to computing power for AI development. At the same time, 95% of all companies will use artificial intelligence, including thanks to government support.
