Artificial Christmas trees: look at the needles

This year, sales of artificial Christmas trees through marketplaces have grown. At the same time, Muscovites often choose small table Christmas trees 60 centimeters high.

Consumer demand for artificial Christmas trees in 2022 began to grow earlier than usual – active sales began already in early November. At the same time, the demand for New Year trees turned out to be twice as high as last year, according to the SberMarket online service for the delivery of goods and products.

The most popular among Muscovites were Christmas trees with a height of 60 centimeters, the next most popular – 180 cm, in third place in terms of sales – trees with a height of 150 centimeters. At the same time, residents of the capital most often choose traditional green Christmas trees, and every fifth buys a Christmas tree with “snow-covered” branches. Top 3 brands preferred by Muscovites: Actuel, Bifores and Tarrington House.

The range of prices for artificial Christmas trees is quite large.

“On average, the cost of a Christmas tree, depending on the height, ranges from 3 to 20 thousand rubles. Now discounts on Christmas trees in SberMarket reach 62%. So, a snow-covered artificial spruce 180 cm from Actuel can be bought for 1,512 rubles instead of 3,990 rubles. Shipping will be free,” the service said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Roskachestvo experts advise purchasing artificial Christmas trees directly in stores and at the same time check their quality. Here’s how to do it:

1. Grasp the branch with your palm and swipe along the entire length. If there are no needles left in the palm of your hand, then this is a reliable specimen.
2. If the needles on a Christmas tree made of plastic are crushed, it is better not to buy it. Most likely, they will remain so, since the plastic does not straighten.
3. Look at the exhibition sample: if it has an unpresentable appearance, you should refuse to buy it. Most likely, the purchased Christmas tree will not look better either.
4. Before buying, check the branches and body of the Christmas tree for cracks and breaks. They shouldn’t be.
5. If the spruce is a team, carefully check the package. It happens that some details are missing.
6. It is preferable to buy a Christmas tree with a metal frame. They are stronger than those whose barrel is made of plastic.
