Arteta disappointed by Arsenal’s goal drought

The Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup with an own goal.
Arsenal head coach, Spaniard Mikel Arteta, does not understand why his team has stopped scoring. The Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup and lost their last two Premier League matches. A promising season is crumbling before our eyes.
Arsenal’s sudden inability to score a goal threatens to derail a season that initially looked so promising. And head coach Mikel Arteta doesn’t seem to know why the goals have disappeared.
His team suffered a third defeat in a row on January 7, losing 0-2 at home to Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup. Despite the fact that in the first half the Gunners had enough chances to win and advance to the next round of the tournament.
Arteta’s side’s last three games have included defeat at home to West Ham United, defeat to Fulham in the Premier League and a disappointing exit from the Cup. And only one goal scored in three games. Arsenal are clearly in need of a new striker in the upcoming transfer window.
Asked why his side were unable to get past Liverpool’s defence, Arteta replied: “What can we do? I can’t tell them that they play poorly, don’t shoot and score an own goal. In the last six months I haven’t seen a team that has achieved what we did against them. We didn’t benefit from it. When my team plays with such courage and attitude against probably the best team in Europe right now, what can I do?”
Asked whether a new striker could arrive in the January transfer window to try to get the season back on track, Arteta added: “It’s one thing what we need and another thing is what we can do. What we can do is support these players.”
