The Armenian Foreign Ministry accuses Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev of threatening the population of Karabakh with ethnic cleansing. In his statements, Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan was ready to carry out any operation in Karabakh, he called for the dissolution of the parliament of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, recommended the NKR president to surrender, and the ministers and deputies to leave their posts. Baku points to the possibility of concessions and amnesty if these requirements are met.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has drawn the attention of the international community to President Aliyev’s bellicose statements, which, in their opinion, violate the UN Charter, the written commitments enshrined in the Sochi Declaration.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the statements of the President of Azerbaijan contradict established international norms and hinder the efforts of Armenia and international partners in achieving peace, stability and security in the region. They also stressed that President Aliyev is once again threatening the Republic of Armenia with the use of force and ethnic cleansing of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
