Armenia has organized an urgent meeting within the Eurasian Economic Union due to tighter Russian controls on its cargo passing through the Upper Lars checkpoint. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of the Republic Vahan Kerobyan.
According to him, Armenia does not understand the outcome of this whole situation, and business is facing troubles. He recommended that entrepreneurs not focus only on Russian goods, but look for clients in other markets, so that similar situations do not occur in the future.
Kerobyan noted that Russia returned 35 cars in 2023 due to various defects. But the same number of cars occurred in the last two days. At the same time, the quality of the product remained unchanged.
He did not say that he sees some kind of political motive on Russia’s part in all this. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also did not claim that Russia had closed its market for Armenian products.
