“In the near future, we plan to introduce a completely new institution in the Republic of Armenia — voluntary military service for women,” Pashinyan said in his speech, timed to coincide with the date celebrated in Armenia on January 28. He thanked all the women serving in the army, including those who signed a contract.

Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan spoke about the development of a bill to attract women to military service, Sputnik Armenia reports. According to Sargsyan, the reason for the reform was the activity of women in matters related to defense. For them, the Ministry of Defense organized shooting training courses and, according to the deputy minister, their results pleasantly surprised the military.

It is emphasized that military service for women of Armenia will be exclusively voluntary.
