Armenia is ready to accept possible refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan is ready to accept possible refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, but believes that at the moment there is no threat to the civilian population of the region.
“We don’t want to talk about this because we believe that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh should live in their homes, in their homeland, in decent, safe conditions. At the moment, according to our assessment, there is no direct threat to the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” leads his words News.am.
According to Pashinyan, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan reported on the completion of preparations for the possible placement of about 40,000 families.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov earlier on September 21 saidthat Russia is counting on stabilizing the situation and creating conditions for the return of evacuated residents of Nagorno-Karabakh to their homes.
The Russian Ministry of Defense previously announced the evacuation of about 5,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. In particular, residents of Mardakert, Martuni and Askeran regions were taken out. Later, the military reported that after the cessation of hostilities, 1,340 evacuees, including 607 children, remained with the peacekeepers.
Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorism measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19. The Russian Foreign Ministry called to “immediately stop the bloodshed” and return to the implementation of trilateral agreements. On September 20, the unrecognized republic announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire and disarmament of troops with the participation of Russian peacekeepers.
On September 21, negotiations were held in Yevlakh between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities. Representatives of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh were accompanied by Russian peacekeepers.
