The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced the signing of a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia.
The department’s statement said that the document was signed in Abu Dhabi on November 24 by the Armenian Ambassador to the UAE Karen Grigoryan and the Saudi Ambassador Sultan bin Abdullah al-Luahyan al-Ankari.
In 2021, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian stated that Riyadh does not establish diplomatic relations with Yerevan because it supports Baku in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Karabakh. At the same time, the politician pointed out that both countries would only benefit from the establishment of diplomatic relations.
