Arkhangelsk will host the Russian 3×3 Basketball Super Cup and the first tandem Winline Russian 3×3 Championship. All-Russian sports competitions will be held in the regional capital on December 11-14.

The Super Cup will close the last 3×3 season and at the same time open a new one, and the Winline Russian Championship will consist of 14 events and will end in July.

“Our region will host basketball competitions of this scale for the first time. They will be held at Nord Expo from December 11 to 14,” wrote the head of the region, Alexander Tsybulsky, on his social media accounts.

The governor added that the Russian Basketball Super Cup is a tournament of the best of the best; it symbolizes the end of one Russian season and the beginning of the next. The competition will traditionally be held along with the start of the regular Winline stage of the Russian 3×3 basketball championship.

– We are creating infrastructure for basketball – a new street basketball center has already been built, and in the coming years we will be building a basketball development center. Interest in this game in the Arkhangelsk region is high,” the governor added.

In the men’s category of the Super Cup, the teams Inanomo (Moscow, national champion), Runa (Moscow, cup winner), Samara (winner of the regular stage of the last championship) and Khimki Power (Khimki, wild card) will play. In the women’s category, COP-Petersburg (St. Petersburg, Russian champion) and MBA (Moscow, cup winner) will meet in the only match.

The Russian Super Cup will be held for the third time. Two years ago, the men’s team “Korolev” (Khimki) and the women’s team “Samara” won the historic tournament in Krasnaya Polyana, and last year in Chelyabinsk, “Runa” and COP-Petersburg won.

The six women’s teams that will play in tandem will play for the first round points of the season, that is, they will begin the race to reach the final, scheduled for July.

Twelve men’s teams will play in the “Challenger” tandem – not for tour points yet, but for the right to qualify for the “Master” tandem.

The tournament promises to be interesting: according to the new system, only four teams will have pre-guaranteed places in the “Master”; many championship favorites will definitely come to Arkhangelsk.

From this season, “Challenger” is not the lower, but the middle stage of the men’s championship, where selection takes place through the “Challenge” tandem. The first such tandem is scheduled for November. Both men and women will play in it. They will compete for four trips to Arkhangelsk.
