Arkhangelsk “Vodnik” reached the final of the Volga-Sport-Arena Cup

On October 28, in Ulyanovsk, Vodnik played the second match as part of the Volga-Sport-Arena Cup, in which they met with the local Volga. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region.
Both opponents beat Rodina Kirov in previous matches, and the winner of their head-to-head match advanced to the final, where the capital’s Dynamo was already waiting for him.
Although the Volga hockey players, thanks to the presence of their indoor ice arena, are a more experienced team, the difference in class at the moment between the two “water” clubs is not yet comparable. Therefore, the Arkhangelsk team initially seized the initiative, but they managed to break the hosts’ resistance only in the middle of the first half. Vodnik forward Ilya Nasekin was especially successful in this. If in the previous match with Rodina the forward missed a lot of opportunities to hit the opponent’s goal, this time he quickly scored a double. The Ulyanovsk team was able to answer this only once – 2:1. In the 24th minute, Northern defender Alexander Legoshin was accurate after a corner kick – 3:1. It was after this that it finally became clear that the yellow-greens would not miss victory in this confrontation. Their advantage has become total. The Volzhans were able to counter this only with numerous violations of the rules by Vodnik players, who did not go unpunished.
The second half was a benefit for Vodnik captain Evgeniy Dergaev, who was again unstoppable and was able to score a hat-trick. Toward the end of this meeting, the hosts were able to score one goal, but it could no longer influence the final result – 6:2.
Two years later, Vodnik Arkhangelsk and Dynamo Moscow will meet again in the final of the Volga-Sport-Arena Cup. This match will take place tomorrow, October 29. Starts at 14:00 Moscow time.
