Arkhangelsk “Vodnik” is preparing for the start of the Russian Championship. Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Sergei Pivkov and Regional Minister of Sports Alexey Aksyonov talked about the new composition of today’s team and the features of the training process at a meeting with hockey players. Let us recall that Arkhangelsk became the leader in Russia in terms of attendance at hockey matches for the 2022/2023 season. In general, more than 62 thousand spectators attended Vodnik’s home matches in the completed Russian Championship, i.e. On average per match, about 4 thousand fans supported the team at the Trud stadium.
“Today there are many young and active guys in the team who show good results, and reached the semi-finals of the Russian Bandy Cup in Kemerovo, losing only to the future winner of the trophy – the Kuzbass team,” recalled Sergei Pivkov. – I was pleased with the mood of the coaching staff and players for the new season of the Russian Bandy Championship, who said that there is no other place other than the first. We believe in our team!
During the meeting, the director of the Vodnik regional sports training center, Roman Klobukov, thanked the Governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Alexander Tsybulsky, and the regional government for supporting the team.
“Vodnik is truly loved by the northerners, which is confirmed by the return of fans to the stands. They go to cheer for their guys, because the backbone of the team is the pupils of the hockey schools of Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Plesetsk and Verkhnyaya Toima, Roman Klobukov clarified.
Captain of the yellow-greens, Evgeniy Dergaev, noted that in recent years, discipline in the team and the dedication of the players, both in training and during competitions, have increased significantly.
“Our goal for the season is to fight for victory in every match; at the Russian Championship we will fight for medals of the highest value,” shared Evgeniy Dergaev.
During the discussion, the athletes also raised some difficulties in preparing for the new season, which they brought to the attention of the team management and the regional government. Difficult points identified by the hockey players have been taken into account and will be under the special control of the relevant ministry.
