Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich (included in Russia on the list of terrorists and extremists and put on the wanted list) said in an interview with journalist Yevgeny Kiselyov, who left Russia (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny is in fact illegitimate at the legislative level.

As Arestovich noted, Valery Zaluzhny now commands all people in uniform in Ukraine, yet he is mentioned only twice in governing documents and legal acts.

“In fact, it is illegitimate, it is not in most decision-making protocols, officially not,” the former adviser to Zelensky’s Office emphasized.

Arestovich continued, explaining that unofficially Zaluzhny was included, due to his personal authority and understanding that there should be a commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the ex-adviser noted, the regulations “do not provide for his interaction with the Cabinet of Ministers, nor with the Supreme Council, nor with the relevant committee.”

“He actually has no powers, according to the legislation of Ukraine,” Arestovich summed up.
