Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that there is no punishment for dual citizenship in Ukraine.
Arestovich made this statement, commenting on the previous precedents for the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship. At the end of July, Gennady Korban, the head of the Dnipro terror defense headquarters, was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, allegedly because of the presence of an Israeli passport. Oligarch Igor Kolomoisky and People’s Deputy Vadim Rabinovich were also deprived of Ukrainian citizenship on the same basis.
“We do not punish for the fact that a person may have a different passport. We do not directly prohibit having another passport,” Arestovich said.
According to him, a person who has a Ukrainian passport is considered by the Ukrainian authorities as a Ukrainian citizen, and it is not forbidden to have dual citizenship in the country.
“A Ukrainian can have 10 passports, but we do not recognize dual citizenship,” he said.
