Former adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich (listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) said that in the past he deliberately announced the rapid successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and now he is deliberately saying the opposite. According to him, he realizes that “a significant share of responsibility for the faith of the ordinary citizen in our quick and beautiful victory” lies with him.
“I created an illusion at that time so that we could survive,” Arestovich said on the social network. “Today I am destroying it so that we can continue to survive.”
He also said that he allegedly “did not offer territory in exchange” for Ukraine’s entry into NATO, but noted that “many were offended” by this idea. In general, Arestovich explained his recent rhetoric and political proposals by existing, in his opinion, necessity.
“Another six months or a year of such a “successful” policy as we are pursuing now, and it will be possible to forget about NATO,” Arestovich said. “And in another year, even this will not happen.”
