Canadian historian: The United States exported German scientists, practically did not look for the Nazis
After the end of the Second World War, the US authorities prioritized searching for and deporting German scientists, while the search for Nazi criminals was not a priority, according to materials from the Canadian archive. RIA Novosti reports this.
A 600-page report by historian Alti Rodal was previously published. In the 1980s, he dealt with the issues of Nazi exit to Canada.
As follows from the report, the transfer of German scientists to the United States was carried out as part of Operation Paperclip and was very successful. Most of the scientists of Nazi Germany were moved to the USA and Great Britain, some ended up in Canada.
At the same time, Rodal notes that in addition to Operation Paperclip, there were other measures in which the US authorities attracted former collaborators of the Nazi regime in Germany. According to him, the West did not even form the necessary staff to search and capture the Nazis, and in general did not even plan such work.
