The head of the faction of the Servant of the People party in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, responded to Georgia’s accusations of hostile actions, calling the Georgian authorities “pro-Kremlin.” He set conditions for normalizing relations, including the release of Mikheil Saakashvili, the cessation of air traffic with Russia and the end of assistance to Russia in circumventing sanctions. Writes about this “Kommersant”.
“The pro-Kremlin Georgian authorities are putting forward some demands regarding the extradition of our citizens for the ‘normalization of relations’. If we are talking about real normalization, we have a plan,” Arakhamia wrote. He presented a three-point plan concerning Saakashvili, air travel with Russia and Russia’s assistance in circumventing sanctions. “Then relations will be easily normalized,” he added.
The Georgian government issued a special statement on March 11, where it noted that over the past two years Ukraine has made a number of decisions that contradict the traditional friendship between the countries. This announcement followed the visit of former Georgian Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili to Europe as part of a Ukrainian delegation as an adviser to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Georgia noted that Adeishvili was sentenced to prison for malfeasance by a Tbilisi court, but Ukraine ignored the extradition request. The statement also mentioned other “unfriendly actions” on the part of Kyiv.
