Movies of the week

From April 3, a new film will be released on the screens of the capital: “Prisoner of the Caucasus, or Shurik’s New Adventures” – in this color comedy film produced by the Mosfilm studio, viewers will meet their old acquaintances from the film “Operation Y”.

The film will premiere on April 1 at the Khudozhestvenny cinema.

Pavilion “Electrification”

VDNKh Square has now become a large construction site. Suffice it to say that the exposition area of ​​VDNKh will increase by 31,000 square meters.

One of the largest pavilions under construction is “Electrification of the USSR”. Builders are erecting it on the main square of the exhibition – the square of industry. The halls of the pavilion will house hundreds of exhibits from various parts of the country. Visitors will be able to see operating models and models of thermal and hydroelectric power plants. A special section is devoted to the use of nuclear energy.

Now the construction of this pavilion, whose area is 4,000 square meters, is in full swing.

Housewarming kids

In the obligations of the builders, taken in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Great October Revolution, it is written: to put into operation kindergartens and nurseries for 28 thousand places in the anniversary year.

In the last days of March, the state commission accepted several buildings in which the kids will celebrate their housewarming.

Kindergartens, each with 140 seats, were built on Kostyakova Street, on Leningradsky Prospekt and along Dmitrovskoye Highway, and for 185 places – in quarter No. 1 of the village of Kapotnya and on 1st Frunzenskaya Street.

Kutuzovsky prospect, house 22. Yesterday, the automated communications pavilion, or, as the signalmen call it, APS-6, opened its doors here. This is the sixth such pavilion in the capital. About twenty “smart” machines are installed in the post office. Machines process incoming correspondence, sell newspapers and magazines, change coins.

Restaurant by the fountain

A large beer mug with a cap of airy foam is the emblem of the future bar-restaurant for 1,500 seats, which will be built by builders on the territory of VDNKh. It will be the largest in the capital. The bar-restaurant will be located in one of the picturesque places of the exhibition in a green recreation area on the bank of the pond near the Kolos fountain.

The walls of the halls will be decorated with mosaic panels. The main finishing materials will be glass, wood, multi-colored plastics.

Exhibition of missiles on Tverskaya

It opened forty years ago in house number 68 on Tverskaya (now Gorky Street, 28). Its organizers were members of the association of inventors – young Moscow workers and students.

Science fiction side by side in the departments of the 1st International Exhibition of Interplanetary Vehicles and Mechanisms with those few real projects that were already in those years. Next to the drawing of Jules Verne’s “gun” and Wells’ “apparatus” are Tsiolkovsky’s and Kibalchich’s rockets. Russian, Austrian, American, French engineers have sent here models and descriptions of their installations for space travel.

For almost a year, one of its most interesting sections, the interplanetary one, was opened. Then the exhibits were transported near Moscow, to Ilyinskoye. There, in the winter of 1941, the Nazis destroyed them. But there were pictures, reports on the first international space exposition.

Yesterday, at a regular meeting of the Aviation and Cosmonautics History Section of the Soviet National Association of Historians of Natural Science and Technology, BM Tsirkov reported on the 1st International Exhibition of Interplanetary Apparatuses and Mechanisms.

Lights of Kalinin Avenue

On Kalinin Avenue, which is under construction, welding lights flash in the evenings. But soon other lights will light up on the avenue – advertisements, shop windows, cafe lights …

The Rossiya book department store, the Book Lover shop, the Oktyabr movie theater – these and other new buildings will decorate the avenue. Lithuanian artists are currently working on monumental stained-glass windows for the unique Oktyabr cinema. A screen will be installed above the cinema, on which advertisements for films will be shown in the evening and during the day.

The quality mark serves as a passport for the best products made in the USSR; on this occasion, the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Standardization announced a competition for the image of the quality mark. Yesterday the collegium of the Committee of Standards, Measures and Measuring Instruments under the Council of Ministers of the USSR approved GOST for the image of the quality mark.

From now on, all the best, whether it be watches or fabrics, electric motors or men’s suits, televisions or sweets, everything will be marked with this symbolic image.

Ceramics in Arkhangelsk

Museum “Arkhangelsk” enjoys worldwide fame. Now here, in the Colonnade building, a branch of the museum has been opened. “Colonnade” was built before the First World War as a temple-tomb of the former owners of the estate of the Yusupov princes. Now restoration work has been completed here, showcases and stands have been placed, and exhibits have been placed. The branch of the museum is open. The main part of the new exposition is exhibitions of ceramics from the museum’s funds.

Heat for the capital

In the Krasnopresnensky district, on the banks of the Moskva River, the largest thermal power plant in the capital will be built. According to the project of the architects, the builders will build it seven kilometers from the existing thermal power plant No. 7. The future thermal power plant will provide heat to the city center within the Garden Ring. It will be a complex of modern buildings. The area of ​​more than 11 hectares will house a boiler house, a machine room, an engineering building, and mechanical workshops. The CHP plant will run on gas. It will replace 40 boiler houses in the district.

The design assignments for the construction of giant houses were approved by the executive committee of the Moscow City Council.

Sweet surprises of “Red October”

Every holiday, the famous Krasny Oktyabr confectionery factory offers hundreds of varieties of chocolate, sweets, and caramel to the Muscovites’ table. Sweet surprises are prepared at the factory and for May Day celebrations. New caramels “Spring”, “Cherry liqueur” arrived on the shelves of stores.

Over 200 tons of sweets, chocolate, toffee were given by the confectioners of “Red October” to the festive table of the capital.
