On September 26, the VKontakte social network and all VK services disappeared from the App Store. Then, some other popular applications and services in Russia also disappeared from the digital app store. Roskomnadzor and Mintsifra demanded that the Apple administration explain the reasons for the incident.

Recently, a post explaining by Apple representative Adam Dem appeared on portal Verge. He stated that the removal of Russian services from the App Store is due to new sanctions imposed by the UK:

“These applications are distributed by developers, most of which are owned or controlled by one or more parties subject to UK government sanctions,” Dema said in a statement. “Apple has terminated the developer accounts associated with these apps, the apps cannot be downloaded from the App Store, regardless of the user’s location.”

In addition to VKontakte, Mail.ru, VK Music, VK Clips, VK Messenger and VK Admin disappeared from the App Store. Also, Yabloko was deprived of the opportunity to download and update applications Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, VTB, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, Otkritie, Novikombank, Domklik, Yula, 2GIS, Aeroflot and Utair.

Now you won’t be able to download or update applications that have fallen into disgrace even with the VPN turned on.

The good news is that those who already have these applications installed can continue to use them without any restrictions.
