Air defense systems shot down a drone over the Black Sea, which was moving towards Belbek, informed Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev in his Telegram channel.
“Another drone attack. Air defense systems shot down the UAV over the sea towards Belbek,” he wrote.
This is the second downed UAV that Razvozhaev reported today. Earlier at night the governor told about a downed drone over the bay. Prior to that, on January 2, he reported on two Ukrainian UAVs shot down over the sea. On January 4, air defense systems shot down two more UAVs over the sea in the Belbek area. Also, the drone was eliminated on January 7 over the Northern Pier, the governor of Sevastopol wrote.
Earlier in December, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov named drones are the greatest danger for the Crimea. The head of the region then said that the drones are small in size and often attack in waves, and not one by one, while the intelligence services of “all countries of the world” work for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose military potential is used to the maximum. At the same time, Russian law enforcement and the military are making every effort to combat drones, Aksyonov emphasized. So, new air defense systems are coming to the region, in addition, the assembly of their own UAVs has begun in Crimea, he added.
Now a “yellow” (high) level of terrorist threat has been introduced in Sevastopol. In April 2022, six of the seven border regions introduced it. Since then, it has been extended several times. In particular, in Sevastopol it is valid until January 26, the last time it was extended on January 11.
In addition, since October 19, 2022, the “medium response” regime has been operating in the region, which, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been extended to eight border regions – Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk and Rostov regions (some of them were shelled by Ukraine).
