It will accept athletes-dancers aged “from pioneer to pensioner.” The appearance of a new sports facility in the Yunost Sports Palace was announced by the head of the city, Natalya Kotova, in her Telegram channel. Pupils of the Veronika Children’s Sports School, known for organizing and holding large-scale competitions for the Chelyabinsk Region Governor’s Cup, will train in the premises. The sports school is a renowned forge of sports personnel; its students have repeatedly won prizes in competitions at all levels, including world championships. And in 2018, “Veronica” itself held the World Dance Sports Championship and Cup.
MK-Chelyabinsk asked the head of the institution to comment on the situation.
“There would be no happiness, but misfortune would help,” laughs the sports school director, top category coach Veronika Butuzova. – In August, due to faulty wiring, a fire occurred in the premises of the Sports Palace and the hall was put under repairs. Thanks to the efforts of the city authorities, the department of physical culture and sports, and the management of the Youth Sports Palace, the premises were completely renovated, we received a large hall with new machines, mirrors and parquet. This is a big breakthrough. Such premises in the city center are a real gift from the head of the city for everyone involved in the sports school. Let me remind you that those who come to participate in events taking place in the large arena of the Sports Palace also train there. The renovated premises attract preschool children, schoolchildren, students, and adult master athletes.
Today, within the walls of the sports school, about five hundred children train, engaged in various dance styles – this includes dance sports, sports breaking, and rock and roll. In addition, the school takes an active part in the “Active Ural Longevity” project, within the framework of which about a hundred active people aged 50+ study at the school for free.
“We are expecting another such hall by January 15,” shares Veronika Borisovna. – Now there is a general renovation going on there. This is a serious strengthening of the sports base of the Veronika Youth Sports School, the Sports Palace and, in general, the city’s sports facilities.
