Zoopsychologist, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Head of the Center for Biopsychological Research of the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis Ivan Khvatov told “Gazete.ru” that cats do not like people simply because animals do not have feelings.
The expert explained that it is not necessary to project the human psyche onto animals. The fact is that felines do not have a consciousness that helps to accept their own individuality.
Meanwhile, the zoopsychologist of the Vernost center Galina Borodulina noted that cat owners interpret the behavior of their pets as a special attitude towards their owners, but this is not entirely true.
The fact is that cats, as a rule, always do what is convenient for them. If felines love to sleep with their owner, it is only because it is so convenient for them, and even a cat’s purr is primarily a way to calm themselves, Borodulina explained.
Nevertheless, Khvatov noted, animals very clearly express their affection, predetermined by instincts. Thus, the cat is attached not to the owner himself, but to the place where the owner lives.
“Cats do not like, they experience positive emotions,” Khvatov summed up.
