He said that “getting into the army” is his dream. At the same time, Popkov noted that to say that he has a desire to go to the front – “it would not be entirely sincere.” According to him, “after all,” military operations are “not a computer toy and not an art book.”

“I would still stretch out January-February, the most frosts. For me, frosts are worse, ”Popkov admitted. He remarked that he did not want to go from a warm room to a cold trench.
At the same time, the offender explained that no one offered him to go to the war zone.
Popkov was sentenced to life imprisonment on January 14, 2015. Then the court found that he committed 22 murders and 2 attempted murders. And on December 10, 2018, Popkov was convicted of another 56 murders and one attempt.
At the same time, the maniac himself confessed to 3 more murders, but his guilt in these episodes was not proven in court.
And in 2020, already in the colony, Popkov wrote a confession, reporting two more murders.
