The American corporation Google has released an update for the Android 14 operating system, as a result of which the distribution of workloads on RAM and processor has changed. About this in an interview with the Android Developers YouTube channel told Google Vice President of Software Engineering Dave Burke.
The new improvements should improve the devices’ battery life and performance. In general, devices will work 30% faster due to the fact that the number of cold starts of applications (those that are not yet in the device’s RAM) will be reduced. As a result, there were more cached processes and an increase in the number of warm starts. The more programs in RAM, the greater the load on the processor, but the company managed to reduce the background activity of programs by 50%.
Operating system Android 14 became available to all users in October 2023. Its features include a new lock screen, an AI wallpaper generator, and a magnifying glass mode for the visually impaired.
