Yesterday, February 11, an outstanding scientist in the field of space biology and medicine, a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Anatoly Grigoriev, died at the age of 80. He died after a severe and prolonged illness, informs Institute of Biomedical Problems RAS. The work of Mr. Grigoriev made it possible to carry out the longest manned flights in the world practice of astronautics on orbital space stations.
Among other things, Anatoly Grigoriev was Head of medical support for space flights (1988-2008) at the orbital stations “Salyut”, “Mir”, ISS, participated in the examination of candidates for cosmonauts. He supervised experiments that made it possible to introduce into the practice of space flights the methods of medical control, prognosis and management of the human condition.
