Anapa hosted the second round of the Russian Women’s Rugby Sevens Championship

On October 15-16, in Anapa at the Spartak stadium, the second round of the Russian rugby-7 championship among women’s teams was held. 8 teams from different regions of the country took part in the Olympic discipline tournament. Krasnodar “Kuban” took 4th place.
At the group stage, the participants were divided into 2 quartets. Kuban played in Group A along with the Russian champions from CSKA Moscow, Krasny Yar from Krasnoyarsk and Vityaz Perm. In the opening match, the team of Maxim Amonov defeated Krasny Yar with a score of 40:0, then Krasnodar played a draw with Vityaz – 17:17. In the final match of the group round, Kuban failed to resist CSKA – 5:36.
Krasnodar took the second place in the group and in the quarterfinals they got to the Kazan “Zilant”, which they beat with a score of 43:0 without any problems.
In the semi-finals, Kuban ran into one of the leaders of Russian rugby, VVA-Podmoskovye, and the victory went to the players from Monino – 21:12. In the match for 3rd place Krasnodar lost to Krasnoyarsk Yenisei-STM with a score of 0:33. As in the first round in Krasnoyarsk, Kuban finished fourth.
CSKA rugby players celebrated the victory in Anapa, beating VVA-Podmoskovye in the final – 24:14.
The third round will also take place in Anapa on October 22-23. The remaining 4 rounds will take place in 2023.
