The second Vladikavkaz open kickboxing championship for the prizes of four-time world champion Timur Ailyarov has started at the Manege Sports Palace, the press service of the city administration reports.
More than 100 athletes from Dagestan, Stavropol, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya and South Ossetia are participating in the championship.
Preliminary fights took place on the first day of the championship, and the final professional fights will take place on the second day.
According to the deputy head of the city Committee for Youth Policy, Physical Education and Sports, Zaur Ailarov, the skill of the athletes, compared to last year’s tournament, has increased significantly.
“The high level of training of the athletes is encouraging. This suggests that kickboxing is developing and is quite popular among young people. I’m sure that interesting fights await us on the second day,” Aylarov emphasized.
Based on the results of the fights, the winners will be awarded cups, medals and memorable gifts.
