An Olympic Auditorium was opened at NArFU

In Arkhangelsk, the “Olympic Auditorium” appeared at NArFU. Its creation was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of higher sports education in the Arkhangelsk region.

The idea of ​​​​creating an audience arose after the creation of an Olympic exposition on the basis of the Museum of History of NArFU, which athletes and city residents helped to assemble.

As the press service of the university said, the main exhibit of the museum exhibition in the auditorium is a chronological tape. It is unique in that it tells about Olympic athletes, sports judges, coaches of the Arkhangelsk region, through whose fate this event – the Olympic Games – passed.

It is noteworthy that the chronological film starts in 1912 – this year the Olympics were held in Stockholm. Our country was then represented by Jan Marcinowski, who later worked at the Arkhangelsk Forestry Institute (ALTI). Since then, about 50 athletes, coaches and judges from the Arkhangelsk region have taken part in the Olympic Games. The most titled and famous among them is Vasily Alekseev, a weightlifter, participant in three Olympic Games, two-time Olympic champion, who set 81 world records. He also studied at ALTI.

The timeline has “extended” beyond the audience: in the corridor in front of the audience, it talks about the Paralympic athletes of the North, including students and staff of NArFU from 2012 to 2022. According to the creators of the project, the chronology will be updated with new facts.
