An ode to luxury at the Passalacqua Hotel – News – Style – Kommersant

One of the most impressive private houses on the northern Italian Lake Como has turned into a chamber hotel Passalacqua. The 18th-century villa was built in Moltrasio by Count Andrea Luchini-Passalaqua and its new owners, the De Santis hotelier family, owners of the nearby iconic Grand Hotel Tremezzo, named the hotel after him. It has 24 rooms and suites, staggered in three locations thanks to the layout of the site: the majestic Villa, the relaxed and comfortable Palazz, and the garden-inspired Casa al Lago. Each of the rooms is unique and the furniture and fittings were custom made or purchased from local markets and auctions.

The grounds are a 5-acre (2 ha) park with centuries-old trees and 15 fountains, a rose garden, and a magnolia garden. Opposite one of the winter gardens is a 20-meter swimming pool, and in the other, overlooking the olive grove, there is a gym – in addition to a tennis court on the lake. There is also a private jetty where two of the hotel’s vintage motorboats are moored.

Interestingly, Passalacqua has ditched the formal dining area. Authentic home-cooked cuisine prepared by Chef di casa chef Mauro Verdza with local products can be enjoyed at dinner, choosing from one of the hotel’s terraces, the rose garden or the lakeside. The table will be served in any of them.

Now the hotel is preparing for the first time to celebrate Christmas and New Year (unlike most local hotels, it will be open until January 2) and guarantees guests the magical atmosphere of winter Como.
