An interregional boxing tournament in memory of Vadim Sofronov starts in Kostroma

The Regional Committee for Physical Education and Sports reports that today a boxing tournament in memory of Vadim Sofronov for the Central Federal District Championship among juniors opens in Kostroma. 150 of the strongest junior boxers from 17 regions of the European part of Russia will come to Kostroma to participate in it. Kostroma will be represented at this tournament by a team of 17 young men, among whom will be the winners of the recent regional championship.
The tournament in memory of Vadim Sofronov, one of the founders of the Kostroma boxing school, will be held from March 18 to 23 at the Volzhanin volleyball center in 13 different weight and age categories.
It is expected that two-time world and 2012 Olympic champion, winner of the Val Barker Cup, Serik Sapiev, will be among the guests of the event. Today he will conduct a master class for Kostroma boxers in the hall of sports school No. 4, on Spasokukotsky Street, 42.
Trial matches between the participants will also take place today, but the grand opening of the competition will take place tomorrow at 15:00. The final fights and awards for the best junior boxers will take place on Saturday, March 23.
