An insulting tag targeting a deceased person is controversial in Nantes

The Toulouse supporters who came to support their team on Sunday in Nantes had the bad surprise to discover at the Beaujoire stadium an insulting tag towards Brice Taton, who died after an attack in 2009.

The tag on a wall in the guest car park toilets shows someone falling down the stairs with the message “Watch out Bruce!“. In September 2009, the young supporter Brice Taton died at the age of 28 in Serbia after falling down the stairs during a violent attack on the sidelines of a Europa League match in Toulouse against Partizan Belgrade.

At the Toulouse Stadium, a stand now bears the name of the young man. The TFC said “appalledby the Beaujoire tag. “It is unacceptable to see this in a stadium or elsewhere“, insisted the club on Twitter. “FC Nantes can only strongly condemn such actions and would like to support the family and loved ones of Brice Taton and will do everything possible to find the author of this odious message.“, reacted Nantes.

The club will view the images from the surveillance cameras to try to see who has entered the visitor sanitary facilities, which are normally impossible for Nantes supporters to access. On social networks, Nantes supporters assured that this tag was already old.
