It has become known why Russia has seen an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in recent weeks. Immunologist and international health expert Nikolai Kryuchkov spoke about this in a conversation with radio “TVNZ”.
According to the specialist, the phenomenon cannot be attributed to seasonal, since the increase in incidence was recorded at the end of summer. According to the expert, we are talking about the spread of a large number of different variants of “omicron”.
The expert also explained that the term “seasonality” in the case of coronavirus can be divided into two factors – social and natural. At the same time, the social factor is the most important – schoolchildren and students have returned to school, many have returned from vacation, the buses are overloaded and are stuck in traffic jams for a long time. All this contributes to morbidity.
The spread of the virus is also influenced by the large temperature difference between day and night, the north wind and the lack of sunlight, that is, a natural factor.
In conclusion, Kryuchkov emphasized that the flu vaccine does not replace the coronavirus vaccine. Wearing masks is not mandatory, but is recommended for citizens suffering from chronic diseases.
