The deputies will discuss the initiative of the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, who the day before in his statement sent to journalists proposed to consider at an extraordinary meeting of the Duma Council the issue of the threat to the security of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and “the need to consolidate society to support a special military operation in Ukraine.” Viacheslav Volodin supported this proposal and noted that “representatives of all factions of the State Duma are working in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics – today there are more than 70 deputies.”
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Leonid Slutsky, also agreed that “in such a situation, checking the clock is really necessary.” “I am ready to speak in favor of convening an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Duma. We must clearly define our position and, possibly, appeal to international institutions and parliaments of the countries of the world regarding the safety of nuclear facilities on the territory of Ukraine and the inadmissibility of “nuclear terrorism” by the Kyiv junta,” he said after Mr. Zyuganov.
Recall that the deputies now have an official vacation (until August 28), and the Duma leadership participates in council meetings: the speaker, his deputies, faction leaders, heads of committees and others.
