In the Kherson region, an emergency situation (ES) at the regional level was introduced after the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. About it declared head of the regional government Andrei Alekseenko.

“We are introducing a state of emergency at the regional level in the region. This will make it possible to promptly start paying 10,000 and 50,000 rubles to the victims. depending on the degree of damage,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

He also said that in Novaya Kakhovka the water level fell by 32 cm, and in the city of Alyoshki, we expect the peak of the rise in water in the coming hours, – earlier Alekseenko declaredthat the city was almost completely flooded after the destruction of the hydroelectric power station.

“Payments to the victims are organized by the regional Ministry of Social Labor <...> We will send all the victims who need special care and medical assistance – people with limited mobility, the disabled – to social and medical institutions in neighboring regions,” the head of the government of the region added.

On the introduction of a state of emergency in the region reported in TASS emergency services on the morning of June 7. Earlier, the state of emergency was introduced on the territory of the Novokakhovka urban district.

The breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. As a result, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which was 11 m. The authorities, together with the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, are taking measures to eliminate emergencies in flood zones, as well as protect houses, roads, socially significant objects of the district and evacuate people. June 7 district administration reportedthat the water level in Novaya Kakhovka after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station began to decline. On the fact of the incident, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on a terrorist attack.

After the incident, the Russian and Ukrainian sides were accused of undermining each other. The Kremlin said that Kyiv committed a deliberate act of sabotage, and stressed that Moscow denied accusations that it was allegedly involved in this incident.

In particular, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu named happened “another terrorist crime” of Ukraine. Shoigu noted that the incident would have severe and long-term consequences for the environment. According to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv has significantly increased the discharge of water from the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station – this aggravates the situation with the flooding of the territories. Shoigu noted that these data only prove the “large-scale sabotage” planned in advance by Kiev.

The Ukrainian authorities, who accused Russia of undermining, said that the country would convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council because of the situation around the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. Similar actions will undertake Russia.
