An athlete from Sakhalin was selected for the Russian national shooting team

Island athlete Olga Averkina was selected for the Russian shooting team, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
The Russian Championship in shooting from small-caliber weapons and the All-Russian shooting competitions for men and women are held in the Lisya Nora shooting complex near Moscow. The competition brought together the strongest athletes from Russia and the Republic of Belarus.
The island region was represented at the starts by Olga Averkina, Master of Sports of Russia, athlete-instructor of the sports training center of the Sakhalin Region, trainee of the coach of the shooting department of the school of game sports in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Gennady Laptev.
The athlete competed in the Olympic exercise VP-60 (standing air rifle shooting, 60 shots). According to the results of the qualifying start, she topped the standings with 630.3 points. According to the results of the qualification, Olga became the second and went to the final, where she took fifth place. Thanks to the result, Sakhalin was selected for the Russian women’s national team.
